東南網澳大利亞站7月29日綜合報道 （本站記者 王慧明）總理Malcolm Turnbull(馬克科姆·特恩布爾)今天中午宣布，澳洲政府將不會提名前總理陸克文（Kevin Rudd）參選下一任聯合國秘書長一職。
本應于昨天的內閣會議中被討論決定的是否提名陸克文一事，由于國會無法達成一致，其最終結果是由總理獨自拍板決定。

“當澳洲政府在為一個國際職位做提名時，關鍵問題在于我們是否相信這位被提名者真的適合那個職位，”Turnbull在發布會中說，“我的判斷是陸克文不適合這個職位，不是所有人都適合所有職位，這也并不是對他個人的不認可，他是前總理。” 但在被問及原因時，Turnbull拒絕回答，并說明此決定和原因已經提前在電話中告訴了陸克文。同時他還確認聯邦政府將不會提名任何一人參選這一職務 。
對于此結果，反對黨副領袖Tanya Plibersek表示不滿，“他不應該堅持認為他能獨自代表澳洲公民的想法，這恰恰顯示了他的黨派局限性。”
?此前，新的自由黨國家黨內閣對前工黨總理陸克文參選一事的態度非常矛盾。在爭取新政府支持的道路中，陸克文曾收到來自自由黨外交部長Julie Bishop（朱莉·畢曉普）的認可，同時也受到了自由黨南澳參議員Cory Bernardi（科爾·伯爾納迪）公開的諷刺，認為他是 “小心眼”， “自大” 且“不穩定”。
目前，下一任聯合國秘書長已經有12個提名候選人，其中包括呼聲高漲的前新西蘭女總理Helen Clark。據悉，本次競選是聯合國70年歷史上首次以公開競爭方式遴選秘書長，候選人會有“面試”的機會，而整個 “面試”過程會以聯合國官方語言在官網上進行直播。

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has confirmed he will not be nominating Kevin Rudd to be the next secretary-general of the United Nations. After federal cabinet failed to reach a consensus on whether Australia would endorse the former prime minister, the decision was handed over to Mr. Turnbull alone.
"When the Australian Government nominates a person for a job, particularly an international job like this, the threshold question is, 'do we believe the person, the nominee, the would-be nominee is well suited for that position?'" Said Mr. Turnbull, "My judgement is that Mr. Rudd is not. Not everyone is well suited for every role. This is no disparagement of Mr. Rudd - he is a former prime minister."
In a press conference, Mr. Turnbull rejected claims Mr. Rudd's political past factored into the decision and said he had spoken to Mr. Rudd and told him about the decision. Besides, he also said the Federal Government would not be nominating anyone for the role this time.
